Your piece warms my heart, though it will probably take time for some in our community to appreciate these good days...they're already expressing how let down they feel about President Obama not targeting the needs of black America. But even given that response, these days are much better days than those other 'good ole days'. So this black guy shares your sentiment...these are the real 'good ole days'. Great piece, Bruce. ~mogama~Thanks Mogama. When the Right is calling every legitimate National concern from cap and trade to health care reform 'hidden reparations', it's would be difficult for President Obama to target the real, meaningful needs of minorities. Regardless, I'm glad to be living in this part of history.
I like your attitude Bruce. There's still so much more needs to be done. But it's good to acknowledge the improvements that have already been made. One day at a time. (I failed to click a rating for formatting Bruce) It's def. a five star. :)Yes, there is so much more which needs to be done. I'd still rather be living today than any other time in history. Thanks for your comments, Brianna.
Yeah Bruce, I certainly would not want to go back in time. I'm a baby boomer and our generation is the generation that made a difference. I doubt us even being here today if it wasn't for those whom were involved in the revolution that was taking place in this country in the early 70s.That's interesting David. I was born in the late 60's and I see a huge difference between those born before me, like yourself, and those born after me. Those born after me are much more likely to regard the current times as good times. To me, you are a rare bird, understanding why the days we live in today are good days, yet being from the boomer generation. My hat is off to you, sir.
Good message. I always prefer the glass being half full then half empty. Thanks Curtis. Oddly I've always been more of a glass half empty kinda guy, but I don't want to rain on someone else's parade.
Great piece, and some much-needed optimism. For all the problems we face today, even the current financial crisis, we are still living in a world with more equality than ever in history, and that is a good thing. Thanks Ben!
Great article. Well done.I totally agree with you. It is so easy to over romanticize the past. Thanks Connor!
