I'd Walk a Mile Just for the Journey

I'd walk a mile just for the journey.  Especially if you came along with me!

I have an incredible life.  Kids that love and respect me, a wife who adores me, friends from around the World who constantly encourage me, and a job which although has its ups-and-downs, is very rewarding on many levels.

I accomplished all my important life goals years ago, and I'm barely into middle age.  What this has left for me is not goals in life, but rather just the journey and figuring out how best to continue on in the journey.

Recently I tried to encourage a friend who was going through hard times, mostly because of physical ailments.  I didn't know if she'd understand my words of encouragement or not.  I told her that sometimes I have to just take comfort in the fact that going through hard times makes us human and affirms that we are indeed part of  huge family of people who make up humankind.  I know it sounds odd, but she understood what I was trying to say.

I think a sense of belonging is a basic human need.  I've tried to make this website a place where people felt like they belonged, and obviously many people do feel that way.  The reality is that this website will fail or succeed not on the whims of some Silicon Valley company in Mountain View, but it will fail or succeed in proportion to the number of people who feel like they belong here.

There are many people I'd happily walk a mile for.  I hope you can say the same.

I'll close with the auto-signature from my email:

Yes Bruce, you've done a great job with SearchWarp. In the six years I've been a member I've seen SearchWarp really climb. Keep up the good work.

Well said Bruce. It is mission accomplished, as far as I'm concerned, in making SearchWarp a place where I feel I belong. Thanks.

Hi Bruce.

I think you've probably all ready walked many miles for all of us! Need a new pair of shoes? :)

I do feel as if I belong and that is a very wonderful thing. Thanks!

Hugs,

Dianne

SearchWarp is a family. A much needed one for a many though I speak for myself, I feel part of this family, encouraged to write, indeed pushed to be the best I can. Where else would get this in life, nowhere. Bruce I feel like I have been invited in to a warm caring community of brothers and sisters and you made that happen for me. God Bless....

"SearchWarp.com, A Place Where I Belong To!"

SW is my addiction. I got scolded by my wife yesterday night at 2 AM for working on my laptop writing articles and commenting. Lol...

So we won't give up anyway...

I liked this statement: "going through hard times makes us human and affirms that we are indeed part of a huge family of people who make up humankind." A great insight...

Bruce! Keep the good work on and keep leading us...

I have never felt more comfortable in any other place like I do here at SearchWarp, so I guess thats a good enough sign to say this is "where I belong".

Keep well
